Declination 26 degrees, 57' 16"
I began observations at 7:00 PM CST on a beautiful, clear, cold night at my rural home. The sky was full of stars. Mars appears as orange-yellow with a magnitude of about -1.5. It was the brightest object visible. Following telescope observations, I attempted to take some photographs. I replaced the telescope with the camera on the tripod. I discovered, much to my surprise, that my simple camera could be persuaded to keep the shutter open for up to 10 seconds. I experimented with this, but it will be days before I will travel to a town large enough to have the film developed. I stayed out longer than I should have and fumbled back inside with my gear to warm my hands before I could begin typing.
Regards,
Mycroft
