Tweaking Eudora

I noticed that the date and time of the last post was incorrect, because Mycroft's clock was incorrect. That has been fixed. I also disabled word wrap in Eudora preferences, hoping to improve the way the blog post looks on a modern machine. This message will be sent when queued messages are sent.

Mycroft Now Online

Mycroft came online today running ConfigPPP and using a SupraExpress 144
modem. The SupraExpress 288 I had intended to use had to be transfered to
my main computer after a lightening strike took out my only 56K modem.
Mycroft also joined the RetroChallenge BBS today and connects using NCSA
Telnet. I am excited to be part of this RetroChallenge community! This
blog posting, and future blog postings, come from Mycroft himself. They
are emailed in using Eudora 1.3.1. Mycroft is a Macintosh Classic with 4
MB of RAM, an 80 MB hard drive, and running System 7.1.1.

Application Accepted

Mycroft's application to join Retrochallenge 2007 was accepted on this date. The Retrochallenge logo was, therefore, added to the blog and to the Classic Macintosh Computing website. Go Team Mycroft!

Building the Communications Infrastructure

Preliminary steps were taken today to get ready for the
Retrochallenge competition. First, a POP3 email account was set up
that should allow Mycroft to post to this blog after he gets back
online. Second, this blog was created. Third, the contest was
actually entered. Mycroft's other website, Classic Macintosh
Computing, was also updated accordingly.

The next post to this blog should come from Mycroft himself, after he
gets back into shape and gets online with 4 MB of RAM. Stay tuned...
